The Story

The name Lot 20 refers to the initial goal of this producer - Sidney Kibet: to export 20 bags of Kenya coffee to the UK. Suffice to say, Lot 20 have expanded slightly since 2019 and Lot 20 now works with a number of farmers across west Kenya, and is known for pushing the boundaries of coffee experimental processing and innovation.

This particular coffee is a fully washed AA from Kenya, grown on the border of Kericho and Kisumu counties. It’s processed by Samuel Koskey at the Lot 20 facility in Kunyak, Koru. After careful hand-picking, the cherries are depulped using natural spring water, then dried slowly on raised beds.

Once processed with care, the coffee is sent to Caffein Compagnie in Bremen for gentle decaffeination using the Ethyl Acetate method, preserving the integrity of each microlot. The result is a cup that maintains its bright orange notes, clean finish, and a demerara sugar sweetness that carries through every sip.
