This coffee comes from the Sidamo region of southern Ethiopia, a place known for its lush highlands and ideal growing conditions for specialty coffee. It's grown by smallholder farmers who deliver their ripe cherries to local washing stations. After careful hand-sorting, the cherries are de-pulped, fermented for up to 36 hours, and then dried slowly in the sun on raised beds – a process that helps develop the coffee's clean and vibrant character.
The washing station where this lot was processed is part of a network run by Ranger Industry and Trading, an exporter committed to high-quality coffee and long-term sustainability. Since shifting its focus to specialty production in 2017, Ranger has not only improved processing standards but also invested in local education, healthcare, and community support projects in the regions where it operates.
Sidamo coffees are prized for their clarity, complexity, and bright, fruity profiles. Grown at high altitudes in fertile soil and cool conditions, these coffees often showcase notes of stone fruit, citrus, florals, and tea-like qualities. The washed process brings out a sparkling acidity and clean finish, making Sidamo one of Ethiopia’s most celebrated coffee regions.
