Updates From The Roastery: Behind The Scenes

As we come into winter its only natural to slow down. Take a look around, take stock of all the changes and growth in the past few months so we can look forward to the future. So, we thought we'd share some of the behind the scenes with our favourite people... you!
.
.
A major dream for us for years was to have a showroom. Espresso machines are at the heart of what we do, so it only felt fitting! We've been busy building a strong relationship with Rocket Espresso over the years, and after our trip to their factory in Milan we decided it was time to put them on show. The design & functionality displayed in their machines are values that really match our own. We love to be hands on in the roastery, and so do they in the factory. Hand built machines, from our fellow wrenchers across the water. Our showroom is almost finished, with a massive thanks to Whiting Carpentry. If you're interested in coming down and having a look at a Rocket Espresso, or even a La Marzocco machine for a new project, send us a message and we'll enjoy a spro or two together.

This next upgrade is the vacuum loader, making us feel like a real legit roastery. Warehouse mile stones. It sucks the beans up from a bucket on the ground, up into the bag weigher, saving James back in the process. He's really missing the extra exercise, but we're hoping it'll save him from an early retirement.
.
All this activity and going's on, means extra green bean. Which means extra storage. So we've got ourselves some pallet racking, so we can store more green coffee, whilst tidying up the roastery in the process. As none of us are 3 meters tall, and competitive strongmen (yet), we've got ourselves a forklift to shift pallets of coffee around and occasionally to help with watering the hanging plants that are just out of reach.

And lastly, but certainly not least, we have a new head roaster! Some of you might have seen her name on your coffee bags, or our post on our instagram. Lauren has been a major addition to the team, with incredible attention to detail and also a real character bringing good vibes to the roastery. We're grateful to have her onboard as a valuable member of the team.
